1995, Masters in philosophy, Institute of Philosophy, Aarhus University; 1996-2003, teaching and researching at Centre of Philosophy, Aalborg University, Denmark;1998, 3 months research at the Nanzan Institute for Religion and Culture; 2002, PhD in (intercultural) philosophy , Centre of Philosophy, Aalborg University, Denmark; 2003-2004, 2006-2008, teaching and researching the Department of Philosophy and History of Ideas, Aarhus University, Denmark as assistant professor and external associated professor; 2004-2006 post.doc. studies, (financed by a grant, from the Danish National Research Council for the Humanities); July 2005, Italy, San Cataldo Foundation, Grant covering one month’s stay at the San Cataldo refuge for Danish artists and scientists; July 2006, Cooligde Fellow, Crosscurrents, Grant covering one month’s stay at Union Theological Seminary/Columbia University, New York, US; 2008-2011, US; 2008-2011, Assistant professor, Via University College; 2011->, Associate Professor, Via University College. Garsdal has been invited to give presentations at conferences and symposia in USA, Canada, Bosnia, China, Argentina and Greece(Rhodesforum). He has arranged several academic conferences and events, among these Understanding Conflict- Cross cultural perspectives, 2008, and "Global Dialogue 2009: Responsiblity Across Borders - Climate Change as Challenge for Intercultural Inquiry on Values". He initiated and is current academic coordinator of the Global Dialogue Prize (www.globaldialogueprize.org ).
Major research interests are Intercultural History of Ideas; World Philosophy; Philosophical perspectives on Interreligious Dialogue; Philosophy of Education; the “blending” of intellectual traditions and the implications of such blending for communication across religious/non-religious, metaphysical, epistemological, interpretational and educational paradigms.
